What to do after a Pedestrian Accident
Being a pedestrian struck by a vehicle can be both physically damaging and emotionally traumatic. There are certain steps victims of pedestrian accidents should take after the occurrence.
Address Health and Safety First. Determine if you feel you need immediate medical assistance. If so, call 911.
Collect and Exchange Information. Write down what happened, including your injuries, the location and situation (e.g. crossing a street at a crosswalk). Get the name and contact information of the driver, and note anything they say to you.
Collect Evidence. In case you need to file a claim later, collect the names and contact information witnesses. Track any wages lost due to the accident.
Seek Legal Counsel. If you believe the accident is the fault of the driver or drivers, or if you were injured, should seek legal counsel to protect your interests and rights.
